Originally built with little more than a clubhouse and runway, it has drastically expanded and now boasts thousands of square metres of shops, cafes and seating areas.

The airport is situated approximately 6 miles north-west of Newcastle-upon-Tyne city centre. A number of golf courses and parks can be found in the surrounding area around the airport as well as a racecourse which is located in Gosforth Park, about 5 miles east of the airport.

Newcastle Airport is situated off the A1 and the A696 dual carriageway. The airport terminal is a short walk from the airport’s own metro station, which directly connects to the Newcastle city centre, less than a 25 minutes journey away. Busses also operate regularly to and from the airport and Newcastle, as well as to other towns in the surrounding area.

The Britannia Hotel, a short walk away from the terminal building, contains several meeting and conference rooms. The largest can hold up to 400 people in a theatre-arrangement or 250 for a dinner dance. In the departure lounge of the airport are two main executive lounges, both of which provide internet access, fax facilities and telephones. The British Airways Lounge is open to club card holders and full-fare BA passengers, whilst the Cheviot Executive Lounge is open on an entrance fee basis.

Gatwick Airport lies approximately 3 miles north of the town centre of Crawley in West Sussex. It is about 28 miles south of London and roughly 25 miles north of the English coast in Brighton.

London Gatwick is directly connected to the M23 from Junction 9 and to the A23 London-Brighton road. It is also 10 minutes from the M25 off Junction 7. Regular busses run from the airport and coach services connect the airport to hundreds of British towns and cities. The rail station located just minutes from the terminals link the airport easily to London and other destinations.

There is a suite of conference rooms, situated in the South terminal, containing 17 meeting rooms, the largest of which can hold 65 people in a theatre-arrangement. There are business services available in the North and South terminals, both of which offer wireless internet.
