Manchester Airport
Manchester Airport is, outside of London, the largest airport in the UK. Manchester started life as Ringway Airport in 1938, and this year won Travel Weekly Globe’s UK Best Airport award. There are major future plans in place at Manchester, comprising, but not limited to, taxiway overhauls, an extension of terminal 3 and a special lounge and gate area for Airbus A380 flights.
Parking
There is short and long-term parking at Manchester international. Long-term parking is organised through car parks dedicated to terminals, with a short shuttle ride connecting car park and terminal. It will set you back around £50 for a week’s stay and then £7.00 for every additional day thereafter. The car parks are part of the Park Mark safety scheme.
Airport distance and surrounding location
The area of the airport, apart from the second runway which resides in neighbouring Cheshire, is contained within the city of Manchester’s boundaries. The city centre lies roughly 9 miles away from the airport.
Transport Links to Manchester
Manchester Airport is situated off junction five of the M56 motorway, and a journey to the city centre should take around 20 minutes, depending on traffic. Up to six trains an hour run from The Station, Manchester airport’s transport hub, to Manchester Piccadilly, from where you can pick up services to the rest of the UK. There are taxi ranks outside of all the terminals and the Stagecoach Skyline buses, numbers 43 and 105, run to the city centre too.
Conference Facilities at Manchester Airport
Manchester Airport has both business and executive lounges. Also, the almost-contiguous 5-star Radisson SAS hotel offers state-of-the-art conference facilities. Meeting and conference utilities are also available in the airport, should you not want to leave the airport buildings.
Jersey Airport
Jersey Airport is a commercial airport located in the parish of St Peter, on Jersey, one of the British crown dependencies in the Channel Islands. The airport proper was built in 1937, and oddly has the Luftwaffe to thank for its concrete taxiways, which we added during the German occupation of the Second World War. There are approximately 1.5 million passenger movements a year at Jersey.
Parking at Jersey Airport
There are car parks at Jersey Airport, with a free, though uncovered, area especially for motorbikes and bicycles. Short term parking is at 50p an hour, but there is unfortunately no long-term parking.
Jersey Airport distance on Jersey
Jersey Airport is located around 5 miles from the parish of St Peter, and is not far from the ‘capital’ of Jersey, St Helier.
Transport Links to areas of Jersey
There is, of course, a busy taxi rank outside the airport, and a trip to St Helier will cost around £20. There is a regular bus service, the number 15, from the airport to St Helier too. There are many coach services that can be booked to take you wherever you’re going, and there are also car hire offices at the airport if you want to get yourself around.
Conference and Business Facilities at Jersey Airport
There are no actual facilities of this nature at Jersey, but both British Airways and Flybe offer airside Executive Lounges at Jersey Airport.
