Due north of Paisley and 6 miles west of Glasgow, Glasgow Airport is Scotland’s busiest airport with more than 9.2 million passengers annually. In 2004, the airport’s second terminal was opened, providing additional check-in desks and state-of-the- art-baggage handling. In 2005, BAA outlined plans to develop the airport to handle 24 million passengers by 2030.

Short Stay Parking
Short stay parking is designed for dropping off or picking up, just a short walk from the terminal. Glasgow Airport has created a free, covered pick-up and drop-off zone opposite the terminal building. The new drop-off zone is on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park, opposite the main terminal. Stays of up to 10 minutes are free for passenger drop-off, ideal for flights to Birmingham.

Long Stay Parking
Transfer by shuttle bus takes 5 minutes, running every 10 minutes.

Paisley Gilmour station is the nearest to Glasgow Airport, just two miles from the terminal, within easy reach of taxi or regular bus services.

The number 905 and 901 buses run between the terminal and Glasgow centre and main train stations.

Glasgow Airport is served by coaches from major cities throughout the UK. Coaches pick up and drop off passengers at the short stay coach park, adjacent to international arrivals.

The Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA)
GoMA is the second most visited contemporary art gallery outside London, offering a programme of temporary exhibitions and workshops. It displays work by local and international artists, as well as addressing contemporary social issues through major projects.

Hampden Park
For the football fan, a visit to the home of the Scottish National Team may appeal. Inside the Scottish Football Museum, visitors can experience parts of the “old” Hampden before touring the “new”.

BIRMINGHAM AIRPORT
Birmingham airport was first opened in 1939, with two hard runways built by 1946. The 1966 expansion of the main runway led to increased use and expansion became inevitable, as international flights became available. In 1984 the Main Terminal was opened, allowing more routes and passengers. A second terminal was opened in 1991, combining domestic (including flights from Glasgow) and international passengers. Passenger numbers continued to increase with over 9 million passengers in 2007. Today, Birmingham International Airport is the UK’s 6th largest.

Long Stay Parking
The long stay car parks are ideal for parking for more than a week. There is a courtesy bus service connecting the car parks with the terminals, running 24 hours, 7 days a week, with a service every 12 minutes.

AIRPORT DISTANCE FROM BIRMINGHAM AND OTHER NOTABLE LOCATIONS
For flights to Birmingham, the airport is approx. 5½ miles south-east of Birmingham city centre, with superb road and rail links. Passengers on flights from Glasgow should be well provided for.

TRANSPORT LINKS TO BIRMINGHAM

By Train
Birmingham International station is directly linked to the terminals. Birmingham City centre is a 15-minute journey to Birmingham New Street. There are 6-7 trains per hour during the day. There are fast, frequent connections to destinations all round the country, ideal for flights from Glasgow.

By Coach
Long distance coach services connect major cities to Birmingham Airport. All coaches pass through Digbeth Coach Station in the centre of Birmingham, with connections to most of the UK.

By Bus
Flights to Birmingham are met by local buses stopping outside the terminals and providing connections with the city centre and environs.

By Taxi
There is a taxi rank outside the terminals, providing a 24-hour service.

Cadbury World
Opened in August 1990, Cadbury World is the only purpose-built visitor centre in the UK devoted entirely to chocolate. Visitors to Cadbury land can learn about the history of chocolate, view chocolate making, take a ride through an enchanted chocolate wonderland and of course taste some chocolate.

Birmingham Football Stadium
For Birmingham City fans, flights to Birmingham may be worthwhile, just for a visit to the hallowed turf of St. Andrews. The Club offers weekly tours, on Wednesdays, at 11am & 12.30pm, which must be booked in advance.
