Isle of Man Airport

Also known as Ronaldsway Airport, Isle of man Airport is the main civilian airport located on the island, providing flights to the UK, Ireland and the Channel Islands. With passenger services starting in 1933, the airport was one of the only UK airports to continue to fly civilians during WW2. In 1936, expansion plans uncovered a mass grave of soldiers thought to have died during the 1275 battle of Ronaldsway. The airport is also situated next to the Manx Military and Aviation Museum, which displays information on the history of aviation on the island. The airport has a number of facilities including a duty free shop, several restaurants and cafes, cash machines and a Post Office.

Parking Facilities

The main car park is located opposite the main terminal building, and fees can be worked out prior to arrival via the airport’s website. There is a maximum limit for car parking of £60.

The airport is located in the south of the island, 6 miles southwest of the capital, Douglas.

Transport Links

There is a bus service which runs from a variety of stops to and from the airport, including Douglas, at half hourly intervals during peak time and hourly intervals otherwise. There is also a taxi rank located outside the main terminal building which is available for pre-bookings. There are also a number of car hire firms with representatives at the airport. The airport is easily accessed from a variety of main roads.

Luton Airport

Luton Airport is one of London’s busiest airports, with nearly 10 million passengers passing through last year. Opened in 1938, the airport served as an RAF base during the Second World War. In more recent years the airport has had over £100 million worth of investments, leading to many upgraded facilities, along with a new control tower, terminal and a new Parkway station. In addition, the airport houses a wide variety of shops and restaurants as well as a game and entertainment sector, wireless internet access and many other facilities to ensure an enjoyable journey.

Parking Facilities

Short term parking facilities are located adjacently to the terminal. Mid-term parking, for stays of roughly 5 days, is also available, with a regular courtesy bus service between the car park and the terminal. Long term parking is also situated a short drive from the airport and a regular courtesy coach is available to passengers. The airport also offers a valet service for passengers who do not wish to transfer from the car parks. Pre-booking is readily available and recommended for all car park services and can be done via the website or telephone. All car parks have designated spaces for disabled passengers.

The airport is located 32 miles from central London and is closely located to the M1, M25 and A1.

Transport Links

Trains regularly run from London’s St Pancras station to Luton Airport Parkway and is easily accessed nationwide. A shuttle bus service runs between Luton Airport Parkway and the airport for passenger’s convenience. A variety of local and national buses run to and from Luton airport, as well as coach services from an array of UK destinations. A range of licensed hackney taxis are available from the taxi rank located outside the terminal building, with the option of pre-booking. Several car hire companies are also based at Luton airport. The airport can be easily accessed via the M1, M25 and A1.

Conference and Business Facilities

Although there are no conference or meeting facilities available at the terminal, there are a variety of options located close-by the airport such as the Ibis Hotel, Putteridge Bury Conference centre and the Cranfield Conference centre all offer a variety of facilities and room sizes.

The Town of Luton

Located 32 miles north of the country’s capital, Luton is famous for its affiliation with Vauxhall Motors and its hat-making history. Luton also boasts the first shopping mall in Europe with the Arndale centre, home to many high street names and designer shops. The town also hosts its own international annual carnival, attracting visitors from all over. The Stockwood Discovery centre is also well worth a visit, exhibiting information about the history and area of Luton, themed gardens and a children’s discovery area, all for free.
