Birmingham Airport

Birmingham International Airport is located in the Borough of Solihull in the West Midlands. It is the sixth busiest airport in the UK. Although it was open and has been operated from roughly 1939, it became truly commercial when it came under the auspices of the West Midland County Council in 1960. The airport has expanded almost continually ever since, and was voted the best airport in Europe in the 5-10 million passenger category in 2007. In line with Birmingham’s constant growth, there are future plans to add another runway and to the addition of facilities to enable the airport to handle the new generation of jets.
