Aberdeen Airport
Aberdeen Airport is the third-largest airport in Scotland, and first saw flights in 1934. Used primarily during the Second World War as a photographic reconnaissance base, it is now Aberdeen Airport’s close propinquity to the North Sea and the oil platforms there that generates much of its traffic. In fact, helicopter traffic makes up half of the aircraft movement at the airport due to this. There are future plans in place including an extension of the runway by up to 300m, which gives the possibility of direct flights to the US and the Caribbean, as well as a £10m construction project to attract more international routes to the airport.
Parking
There is an NCP car park near the airport’s perimeter. Bookings are taken by both phone and online and early bookings can sometimes secure good discounts. The price is around £6.80 a day.
